Battersea residents and all Londoners have, however, been given good reason to look fondly on the Power Station’s final days of dereliction. The Everyman Cinema’s Power of Summer project saw the installation of an outdoor cinema in the Pop-up Park in the shadow of the Power Station. With accompanying Street Feast stalls selling high-end food-to-go and even an exclusive gig headlined by London collective Jungle, the last days of shabby have never been so chic.
The Fire Garden by Carabosse was a fitting final celebration of the Power Station as a public space. Those lucky enough to get tickets had the chance to wander through a maze of fiery installations and (metaphorically, we hope) immerse themselves in the creations of the renowned French artists as the Pop-up Park was set alight.
